About
Michelle Collins joined the Center in October 2021 as the director of grant process operations. In this role, she oversees the proposal submission and review process for the Center’s grant programs and provides support to the applicant community. This also includes managing the Center’s event sponsorship and meeting grants, coordinating publications and communications for the Science and Technology Development team, and supporting select operational functions.
Prior to joining the Center, Michelle was employed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for over 14 years where she held a series of positions in grant development, research administration, and program management. Michelle has also worked in the nonprofit sector and served as an independent grant consultant.
Michelle has a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies and a master’s degree in public administration (with a concentration in nonprofit management) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She also has a certificate in Public Health Leadership from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
She is certified as a Research Administrator (CRA) and Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA) by the Research Administrators Certification Council.
